favorU

Community Guidelines

Version 1, effective on publication.

favorU is neighbors helping neighbors: you post what you need and what you can do, and you trade favor for favor. No money, no professionals; everyone here is an equal. These guidelines are the house rules; the legally binding versions live in the Terms.

Show up

A confirmed swap is a commitment. Someone is counting on you, and often has already started on their half. If you cancel after confirming, a strike lands on your profile automatically, whatever the reason. If the other person stops answering, report it: ghosting after a confirm is a strike too. Strikes are permanent; future partners see how many you have and how recent the latest one is (never the details).

Be decent

Treat people the way you'd want your own family treated. Harassment, whether in chat, in person, or anywhere a favor takes you, is the fastest way off favorU: someone reports it, a human reviews it, and the account is no longer on favorU.

Meet safely

  • First swap in a public place. A café, a library, the post office: anywhere with other people around.
  • Tell someone where you're going. The app can send a plain summary of the swap to a friend before you meet. Use it.
  • Homes by invitation only. You enter another member's home only when expressly invited, and only as a guest. Nobody owes anyone a home visit.
  • You can cancel any time before meeting. Nothing is owed until the swap is confirmed. Even after that, cancelling is always allowed; it just counts a strike.

favorU cannot check, watch, or guarantee any of this. We don't verify who anyone is, we can't see where you meet, and we're not there. You take part as two adults between equals, each responsible for your own judgment, and either of you may stop at any time. Neither of you is a professional, so neither owes the other a professional standard of work. If a job needs a professional, hire one. This is a mutual understanding between members: nobody is giving up rights the law gives them.

Keep it personal

Requests are for personal, non-commercial needs, never for your business and never for money. If money would change hands, it isn't a favorU swap. And some things are simply off the table, no matter how handy someone is:

  • regulated trade work: electrical, gas, plumbing, or structural work; legal or medical advice;
  • anything with a serious risk of injury.

These categories don't exist on favorU; requests for them are removed.

If something goes wrong

Even after a swap is over, you can always report it from the swap page: ghosting, harassment, or anything else under "other". A human reviews every report; nobody is ever punished by an algorithm. If we act on your account, you get an email explaining exactly what was decided and why, and you can always appeal by replying.

If you believe a crime has happened, tell the police, and tell us. We promise to pass credible threats to life or safety on to the police ourselves, every time. Anyone can write to reports@favoru.app, even without an account: parents, bystanders, authorities.

The record

Strikes are permanent, thumbs are per completed swap, and together they are the community's memory. See them as information, not verdicts: what someone is remains your call. Details stay private, appeals are always heard, and nobody is ever "banned forever". We say it plainly: the account is no longer on favorU.
