Terms of Service
Version 1, effective on publication.
favorU is a free community service run by a private individual (a sole trader) established in the United Kingdom. For anything on this page, write to contact@favoru.app. For reports (our official contact point for authorities too), write to reports@favoru.app.
These Terms are a contract between you and favorU. Please read them before you create your profile. When you tick the acceptance checkbox on the signup screen, you agree to them.
1. What favorU is
favorU connects neighbors for mutual favors: you post what you need and what you can do, and we introduce you to someone whose needs and abilities complement yours. Everything here is a favor for a favor. favorU involves no money, no points, and no credits of any kind, and no payment ever changes hands through the service.
favorU only introduces people. No employment, agency, or partnership is created between you, your swap partner, and favorU. favorU does not direct, supervise, or compensate any favor, and the swap itself (when, where, and how it happens) is an arrangement between the two of you.
2. Who can use favorU
favorU is for adults only (18+). At signup we ask for your year of birth and nothing more; if you are under 18, signup is blocked and whatever was entered is deleted, not kept. We keep an eye out for underage accounts, and any account discovered to belong to a minor is terminated and its data deleted.
By creating an account you confirm that you have never been convicted of a violent or sexual offence.
3. What favorU does not do
favorU does not verify anyone. We do not conduct criminal background, identity, or age verification checks. We do not vouch for any user. In response to reports we may review and investigate; most users are never checked, and no particular outcome is guaranteed.
Trust marks are records, not endorsements. Strike counts, swap history, and thumbs-up counts on a profile are records of our own process. They are not an assessment by favorU of any person, and they cannot tell you whether someone is trustworthy, safe, or suitable. Only you can make that judgment.
4. The rules of the community
Short version here; the full story is in the Community Guidelines. Our rules mirror the reasons you can report (ghosting, harassment, other):
- Show up. Once a swap is confirmed, cancelling it automatically counts a strike against you.
- Be decent. Harassment of any kind leads to removal.
- Keep it personal. Requests must be personal, non-commercial needs. Never for a business, and never for money.
- Keep it safe to offer. No regulated trade work (electrical, gas, plumbing, or structural work; legal or medical advice), and nothing carrying a serious risk of injury.
- Homes by invitation only. You enter another member's home only when expressly invited, as a guest.
5. Swaps, cancellations, and strikes
A swap runs from proposal to confirmation to close. The important rule: after confirmation, any cancellation, by either side, for any reason, automatically records a strike on the person who cancelled. We do not judge reasons; the system cannot know what a cancellation costs the other side. Strikes are permanent, and other users see the count and how recent the latest one is; the details behind a strike stay private.
6. Moderation: what you can expect from us
favorU has the right, but not the obligation, to review reported behavior and to issue strikes, restrict, suspend, or remove accounts. We review reports with human judgment and aim to act within 7 days, but we do not promise or guarantee any particular outcome.
If we strike, restrict, or remove your account, we email you a statement of reasons: what was decided, the facts we relied on (including that it followed a report), the rule it was based on, and how to appeal. Appealing is simple: reply or file another report, and a human re-reads it. If we ever remove an account, our wording states the plain fact: the account is no longer on favorU.
Anyone can reach the review queue, even without an account: reports@favoru.app (parents, impersonation victims, police, or anyone else). If you are in the UK, you may also be able to complain to Ofcom; in the EU, to your national Digital Services Coordinator (in Hungary, the NMHH).
7. Safety, no promises
Many favors happen in person, sometimes in homes. We cannot verify where or how you meet, and we are not there. So please: meet in a public place the first time, tell someone where you're going (the app can share the swap for you), and remember you can cancel any time before meeting. Read the Community Guidelines, and use your own judgment every time.
8. Your content
You own what you write on favorU. You give us only the limited permission needed to host and display it so the service can work, and nothing more. We have no obligation to store anything: chat messages are deleted from our servers once delivered, and other content is kept only as described in the Privacy Notice.
9. Liability
favorU is provided as is: a free service, run with care, without promises of availability, accuracy, or outcomes. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is capped at the fees you have paid us, which is zero. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded by law. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence: this page does not and cannot exclude it.
10. Privacy and law enforcement
Data handling is described in the Privacy Notice; questions and requests go to privacy@favoru.app. If a report contains a credible threat to someone's life or safety, we report it to the police and log it. If you believe a crime has happened, report it to the police first, and to us as well. On a documented preservation request from law enforcement, we can pause the usual deletion of undelivered chat messages; we tell affected users when the law allows.
11. Changes to these Terms
These Terms are versioned and dated. If they change materially, we tell you by email (or in-app) with reasonable notice before the new version takes effect, and the screen you saw when you accepted is archived with each version. Continuing to use favorU after a change means you accept the new version.
12. Governing law and languages
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Hungary or elsewhere as a consumer, this removes none of the protections or court rights you cannot lose by contract.
These Terms are written in English and Hungarian with the same substance in both languages. If the two texts ever diverge, the English version prevails.
